Portfolio Review: Clayton Patterson

Clayton Patterson is a living legend in New York City's East Village and Lower East Side, and has spent close to three decades documenting the craziest shit you've probably only ever heard about. Long before the days of $3,500 studio apartments and $8 coffee, the photographer, activist, and neighborhood historian was photographing drug busts, riots, and the realities of a neighborhood undergoing change. Patterson has been holding it down for the city, and has been there with his camera whenever news goes down. In September, Patterson released a documentary of archived footage entitled Captured, a look into several of the city's most iconic and controversial moments.
