By now, you may have heard how the Museum of Ancient Olympia was robbed last week of over 70 ancient artifacts relating to the Olympic Games? Two armed assailants tied up a museum guard and stole priceless statues, jewelry and more. This comes as a shock to Greece who's been under extreme economic uncertainty and civil outrage over the country's recent austerity measures. Art heist have been known to be clever in the past, but the recent events at the Museum of Ancient Olympia was just a slap in the face to the Greek people and the rest of the world.
