Painted Desert Boots
Where we saw it: Sacai
Sacai took the plain old desert boot up a notch by adding a single painted stripe on the side. It's a simple way to give life to these classic kicks, and one you can easily replicate on your own.
All-Over Print Pants
Where we saw it: AMI
Printed pants have been trickling into menswear, but AMI took the volume all the way up. We're talking bold stripes and exotic floral prints, balanced out by simple sneakers. Consider a pair of these with white-on-white Air Force 1s to stunt on another level.
'70s-Inspired Sportcoats
Where we saw it: Saint Laurent
Daft Punk's decidedly retro '70s vibe hit Saint Laurent in a big way. Designer Hedi Slimane channels the golden era of disco for sportcoats appropriate for "getting lucky." Leopard prints, golden fabrics, and shiny materials featured heavily.
Ombré Everything
Where we saw it: Band of Outsiders
The dip-dyed trend continues into Spring 2014. Band of Outsiders produced some ombré gear for hombres everywhere. Think shorts and pants that fade from a light blue to a stark white. We think the denim jacket is really dope.
Plaid Outerwear
Where we saw it: Junya Watanabe
Master of deconstruction Junya Watanabe channeled an outdoor vibe in his latest collection. Bringing a dose of pattern to outerwear like parkas, trench coats, and chore jackets, we really like these plaid coats. You could easily throw on a solid oxford shirt or graphic tee underneath for a foolproof casual look that keeps spring showers at bay.
Lighter Shades of Blue
Where we saw it: Kolor
Indigo's menswear moment is still here, but Kolor reminded us of blue's softer hues. Cerulean and periwinkle shades were featured in Japanese brand Kolor's spring collection alongside darker navys and deeper blues. So if your wardrobe is going through a blue period, next spring is an ideal time to lighten up a little.
Geometric Graphics
Where we saw it: Christopher Kane
Christopher Kane took us back to the days of Trapper Keepers and Windows '98 screensavers with these geometric prints. From mapped-out faces to more abstract patterns, the Tron-like prints are a welcome technological throwback.
Refined Bucket Hats
Where we saw it: Carven
Carven dressed up the bucket hat for next season. The storied accessory took on some of the unconstructed characteristics of the floppy hat that guys have tried to adopt into their looks. Unlike the decidedly feminine headgear, these bucket hats take an easy-wearing suit or casual jacket to another level.
Patterned Mac Jackets
Where we saw it: Kenzo
Humberto Leon and Carol Lim ditched the familiar New Era caps and Vans sneakers for next year, but maintained their grasp of bold style and some of the illest prints in the industry. We were really impressed by their take on the classic mac jacket. The rainwear staple was transformed into a covetable piece thanks to awesome camo prints and wavy, indigo whorls that reminded us of Dr. Seuss.
Next-Level Baseball Jerseys
Where we saw it: Alexander Wang
Alexander Wang made us all want to make the team with his reinterpreted baseball jersey. While labels like Sandro have repurposed the on-field garment in the past, Wang knocked it out of the park with his designs for Spring 2014. Colorblocked square mesh versions and a super-luxe suede are given a new feel thanks to a zipper closure in the middle. A contrasting black-and-white jersey and a cotton jersey with leather trim switch it up with a placket that looks good unbuttoned, and a snap placket that leaves contrasting circles on the outside of a white trim.
