No one is gonna deny that Scott Disick can outdress a lot of other guys. That alone landed him a spot on our list of The 50 Most Stylish Men In Los Angeles Right Now. However, there are a few that would also argue that Lord Disick is a nice guy. Hey, you can't win 'em all.
While there's no problem about putting some effort into how you look, you can definitely go overboard. You either end up looking like a total peacock or an overconfident dickhead. This is how to avoid looking like the latter. You might not lose points for style dressing like this, but you'll certainly make the wrong first impression. Here are 10 Style Choices That Make You A Well-Dressed Douchebag.
Straw Fedora
It's the Panama Hat's edgier cousin that prefers vodka drinks to beers and probably will buy shots for every girl at the bar. We're all for brimmed hats in the summertime, but we also know that not every guy can pull one off. If you can, chances are that your wardrobe is as full of itself as you are.
"Season Pushing"
We're talking to you, dude in layers. Nice three-piece suit. Too bad it's 78 degrees outside and we still have about a month of warm weather left until it's actually appropriate to wear any of the cool fall gear you just bought. Stop showing off and start dressing for the weather like the rest of us.
Espadrilles
While great for summers on the coast and Mediterranean cruise stops, they're definitely ten steps up from flip-flops... just not very practical for gross subway stops and urban sidewalks. Wearing them is like telling the world you cab everywhere because you hate riding the train with peasants.
Neon Blazers
There's nothing wrong with pops of color, but there is something wrong with being the kid that screams "Me! Me! Me!" everyt time he walks into a room. Bold colors like red and blue can be dope, but anything like hot pink or tennis ball yellow is pretty ridiculous. All eyes will be on you, sure... but they're probably shooting knives at your audacity.
Multiple Bracelets
You know how you can judge how old a tree is by the rings in its trunk? You can also judge how many menswear blogs a dude reads by how many bracelets are on his forearm. If he has two, and he definitely loves clothing, but is still grounded in reality. Any more than that and he's officially a stage five creepazoid.
Summer Scarves
Scarves and hot weather just don't mix, no matter how steezy you're trying to be. It's a clothing oxymoron. While they might be useful in keeping sand out of your face, chances are you don't live in a desert that regularly experiences sandstorms. They can look snazzy when worn under a linen suit or light sportcoat, but they definitely make you look like you'd rather be someplace better and more European.
Tucked Boots
The boot tuck has divided many a menswear blogger, does it look good? Is it horrible? While it's definitely a move that only the boldest guys go for, your superior steez might intimidate lesser stylish beings.
Casual Bowties
Bowties are still a signifier of a dude who's just learning to dress himself, and are usually one of the first style risks a guy takes. There's nothing inherently wrong with them, and they do look cool when paired with something like a chambray shirt and workwear-inspired blazer, but they're just one of those trends you see so much that most people are pretty much over them right now.
Unbuttoned Shirt Buttons
Leave the top one unbuttoned: you're normal. Leave the top two unbuttoned: it's hot. Leave any more than that unbuttoned: you're sexy and you know it… but you're wrong. Then again, Kid Rock did say it's only being cocky if you can't back it up. So if you don't mind showing your chest hair or stomach, go ahead. It's the sartorial equivalent of "COME AT ME, BRO!"
White Jeans
The number one sign that everything you put on was deliberately calculated in order to make you stand out. You're out to prove that you know more about clothing than everyone else in your immediate vicinity, and they should not talk about style or you'll embarrass them. Also, it's a possible sign that you're definitely not on your man period and therefore are slightly less uptight than usual. Unless you're Andrew W.K., in which case, party on.
