"Shabba," the single from A$AP Ferg's upcoming Trap Lord album, is the current banger of the moment. Aided by a dope verse from A$AP Rocky, the track erases any lingering notion that Ferg would be a one-hit-wonder with "Work." So why did A$AP Ferg choose to do a track about the Shabba Ranks, the Jamaican dancehall legend? On a recent episode of 106 & Park, A$AP Ferg explained his "habit of paying tribute to the greatest people who did it, all the icons."

For our purposes, we won't talk about how Shabba Ranks was one of the biggest artists of the late '80s and early '90s, nor how he is one of the forefathers of reggaeton. Instead, we compiled a bunch of photos that document Shabba's amazing style. Now you'll see that there's definite truth to Ferg's hook "Eight gold rings like I'm Sha-Shabba Ranks/Four gold chains like I'm Sha-Shabba Ranks/One gold tooth like I'm Sha-Shabba Ranks." To see why the artist is the style icon of A$AP Ferg and A$AP Rocky, here are Shabba Ranks' Greatest Looks.
