Let's start off by stating the men's style mantra: personal style is all about attitude and expressing yourself however you choose. With that being said, there are some things that, no matter what, will be detrimental to becoming a well-dressed dude. Others are horrible items of clothing that stubbornly cling onto existence, and should be turned down to eradication status. If you're re-aligning your priorities and personal looks is climbing up the list, or you're just doing Spring cleaning, then you need to peep these 10 Unstylish Clothing Items Every Guy Needs to Burn Right Now.

White Tees With Pit Stains

There are ways to avoid getting these nasty piss stains in your crotch, but honestly, just take the time and the $5 required to cop a new three-pack of Hanes. We know, it's hard to say goodbye to such a reliable and dependent piece of clothing, but you're about to get three new ones!

Super Skinny Jeans From Your Emo Days

We feel you, dawg. Maybe you had just lost your girl, or were really into Bright Eyes and Cunninlynguists and wanted to display your anguish. Well, life is good, and will be even better once you incinerate these abominations. People say fashion is pain, but fuck that noise. Destroy these nut-crushers.

Boot Cut Jeans

No one can make boot cut jeans look dope. Not the Marlboro Man, not Kanye West, not even Jesus. If you're still fucking with the flair, then haul ass over to a denim re-up and cop the replacements for these ASAP.

Square Toed Shoes

Unless you suffered a terrible frostbite accident climbing Mt. Everest or have a club foot, there's no reason you should rock these. They instantly sound off all douchebag alerts in the immediate vicinity, and will undoubtedly impede you on the quest to becoming stylish.

Socks With Holes

You might think you can get away with these, but you are sorely mistaken. And once you take the kicks off, this is the second-worst telltale sign you can give a girl or anyone else that you're 'bout dat dirtbag lifestyle (#1 is on its way...). Keeping your sock game on point is a great way to secure the foundation of your wardrobe to build upon, or you can treat socks like another stylish aspect to indulge in.

Old Dirty Underwear

Come on, man. If you're sporting ratty, to'-up boxers, briefs, or tighty-whities, how far do you expect to get in life? If you can't even take care of that which is literally the closest thing to the most important thing you possess, there's no way you can be relied upon to flourish in any other aspect. Overhaul the rotation every six months (a year, if it comes to that) and keep it moving.

Five Finger Shoes

Unless you're a billionaire tech CEO (shouts out to "Silicon Valley"), you should not wear these outside of your morning run, which is hopefully early enough that you don't run into any co-workers or colleagues. Seriously, incorporating an aspect of technical performance gear into your wardrobe is great, but rocking these toe-condoms show that you blindly will dive feet-first into the latest and greatest, as opposed to putting together a dope, cohesive sense of style.

Extra Long or Baggy Swim Trunks

We're not saying you need to go full European grape smuggler with a speedo, but a solid pair of swim trunks should hit somewhere between the thigh and just above the knee.

Going Out Shirts

We'd say you should designate these as the "stay-at home shirts" but you should actually do yourself a favor and just get rid of them. The era of gaudy, billowy untucked shirts with contrast fabric under the cuffs and collar is long over. Technically, any well-fitting shirt can be a "going out shirt." What you wear on the daily should be as dope as what you throw on when you hit the club or the bar anyway.

Fedoras

Fedoras worn with anything other than a suit just doesn't work unless you're say, Justin Timberlake. But even then, it only works because he's Justin Timberlake. The whole high/low look works for items like dressy trousers and sport coats, which can easily be worn with denim and more casual items, but it doesn't work for fedoras. To wear a fedora in public is to tell the world you're a card-carrying member of the "forever alone" club.
