One of Kobe Bryant's sisters, Sharia Washington, has decided to pay tribute to her late brother and niece, Gianna, by getting a black mamba shaped like the symbol for infinite, with their numbers (2 and 24) tattooed onto her left shoulder blade. You almost certainly don't need to be told, but this particular snake was chosen because it was Kobe's self-given nickname that made that animal way more famous than it was ever going to become on its own.
Washington shared a picture of the final version, which didn't need to be explained any further through a caption, on her Instagram on Wednesday night:
Days after Bryant, his daughter, and 7 others (Payton Chester, Sarah Chester, Alyssa Altobelli, Keri Altobelli, John Altobelli, Christina Mauser, and Ara Zobayan) were killed in a helicopter crash, Bryant's other sister, Shaya Tabb, put out a statement on behalf of the family.
"On behalf of our family, we join Vanessa [Bryant], Natalia, Bianka and Capri in grieving the loss of Kobe and Gianna in such a tragic accident," that statement said. "We are devastated by the loss of our brother, son, our niece and granddaughter, and our hearts go out to all the families who lost their loved ones on Sunday. Our lives are forever changed. Thank you for your prayers, the numerous calls, texts, emails and cards."
In the wake of Kobe's death, getting tattoos of him has become a pretty regular thing. In addition to several non-famous people doing it (with local parlors reportedly being backed up for months with requests), public figures like The Game, 2 Chainz, Odell Beckham Jr., and LeBron James have also gotten similar ink.
