The French clothing company Eleven Paris is now the target of a lawsuit from some of the biggest names in music. On Tuesday, the brand was hit with a complaint filed by Rihanna, Beyoncé, Jay Z, Kanye West, and Pharrell for using their likeness and trademarks without permission.
The brand continued to sell products with the artists' names and lyrics on them despite Beyoncé sending several cease and desist letters asking them to discontinue selling the unauthorized products. The new claim accuses the brand of over 50 violations of “publicity violations, willful trademark infringement, unfair competition and dilution, among a score of other blatant statutory and common law violations,” according to case documents.
The musicians are asking that the company quit production on the T-shirts and accessories, and repay the profits and legal fees. Yikes!
Earlier this year, Rihanna won a similar lawsuit for a reported $5 million after Topshop sold a T-shirt printed with her face without permission.
Eleven Paris has since taken the products off its website.
