Soze Gallery is closing out their 2014 season with an exhibition titled "ERROR," opening today, by Mexican fine and graffiti artist CILER. The show marks CILER's solo debut in the United States. In the past, his pieces have appeared in galleries in Mexico, Rome, Barcelona, and New York.
For the new show, CILER focused on reworking existing found images in order to reveal their deeper, inherent meanings. The press release states that "ERROR" serves as a reflection on the degradation of empathy in our society, asking what we can do to change the imprint we leave on the world. In CILER's work, "nothing is static," and he "creates a catalyst that dismantles aesthetic, psychological, and religious paradigm." Taking formerly beautiful objects and paintings, CILER uses collage, drawing, painting, vivid colors, and lines to spark a conversation about classic societal norms and standards.
"ERROR" runs from Nov. 15 to Dec. 8 at Soze Gallery in L.A.
