Last week, we showed you the "making of" artist Leo Villareal's BUCKYBALL installation in Madison Square Park. The 30-feet high, double-sphered sculpture, made of 180 LED tubes, officially opened to the public last Thursday. Its completion emphasizes its excellent location, both in a tree-filled park and among the tall, lit city buildings of NYC's Flatiron. The installation's tubes change colors, making them an incredible sight at night.
Villareal will also light the San Francisco Bay Bridge later this year and has permanent installations on both the exterior of BAM's Peter Jay Sharp Building and the Bleecker/Lafayette station.
