According to Daily Mail and the New York Post, Islamic terrorist group ISIS has recently decided to enter the fashion criticism lane, threatening to "jail any man caught wearing skinny jeans or having music on their mobile phones." They are also threatening to jail smokers and people who are late to prayers in the city of Raqqa. According to informants from the anti-ISIS group Raqqa is Being Slaughtered Silently (RBSS), those who violate the law will be arrested and forced to take a test at the end of their sentence that determines if they will be released or kept behind bars.
"Freedom of expression has become a crime," said one Raqqa resident, "so you can not oppose a decision issued by the group. Otherwise you will be arrested on charges of violation of God’s law as its fighters claim, but they are far from this law. There is no difference between ISIS and Assad’s regime: bribery and favoritism are widespread within the group and play a major role, especially among the local members of the group."
We're not really sure why skinny jeans, music, and smoking are such grievous offenses, but trying to think about the tactics of ISIS logically is a waste of time. The reports don't mention how common it is to see skinny jeans in Raqqa, but we imagine that ISIS would have to find a much larger jail if their military stronghold were located in Brooklyn, Soho, or other parts of the United States where cigarettes, skinny jeans, and music are cultural requirements. Maybe someone should start arrested people for wearing NT Denim instead.
