Geotagging photos on Instagram is a helpful way to visualize the places that you have visited on a map and to see the photos that others have taken there. Your friend's basement, the cafe down the street, and even Hell has a geotag because users can easily use ones that exist nearby or create their own. Instagram recently shared their list of the top 10 geotagged locations in the world, and they're not all as obvious as you might think.

Topping the list at number one is Disneyland in Anaheim, California, which makes perfect sense. An estimated 16.2 million people visited the theme park in 2013. We don't know how many of those people had cell phones and Instagram accounts, but our guess would be a lot.

The second most geotagged location in the world is Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, followed by Times Square, the Siam Paragon shopping mall in Bangkok, and somewhere called Gorky Park in Moscow.

Finishing out the top 10 geotagged locations on Instagram are the Louvre, Russia's Red Square, Madison Square Garden, Yankee Stadium, and The Dubai Mall. We're surprised that tourist attractions like the Eiffel Tower, the Grand Canyon, and the pyramids in Egypt didn't make the cut, but it's interesting that California, New York, and Russia completely dominated the list.
