The “Yeezy Season 1” collection was one of the most talked-about presentations during NYFW. It seemed like almost everybody had an opinion on the show, including bloggers, celebrities, and of course Kanye West’s fans and critics. But one group of people we haven’t heard much from is the band of featured models. That is until today.

Devan Mayfield, who is represented by Red Model Management NY, spoke to Business Insider about her Yeezy experience and shared her thoughts about being in the show.

Apparently, she had found out about the casting last minute and was immediately thrown into the process as soon as she got there.

"When I arrived for hair and makeup on the day of the show, [Kanye] was already there,” she told Business Insider, adding that Kanye was very hands-on. "It felt like a dream to be working with fellow artists, creators, and revolutionaries. I was very inspired and carry the energy from those moments with me today. I was a part of Kanye’s army."

She went on to explain how the clothes made her feel comfortable yet sexy, but above all, the nude body suit made her feel empowered.

When asked whether or not the models were told to look bored and tired, she insisted that wasn’t the case.

“We were guided to remain present [...] natural and meditative,” she said, before explaining that the models were putting on a performance. “You could see our souls on our faces."
