That was just one of those dope boy cars. All the dope boys in my neighborhood had a Monte Carlo or at least wanted one. And that was from ‘85 until ‘96, that was the car to have. That car probably lasted the longest with people just getting it year after year. It was just that staple that people felt they had money and they could show off with that.

That body is just so aerodynamic. It was futuristic for that year. On a straightaway, no car is staying with that.

The ZL packages were made for Camaros and Chevelles and were cool, because each one was hand-assembled. They were made-to-order and took about 16 hours to build. Even though it had an automatic transmission, it had the performance of a stick. I liked the convertible with the shark mouth and longer body.

This was one of the first cars that I drove. My friend Jonathan had one and he let me drive it. It was going so fast down a cobblestone hill that I banged the bottom of it and put a hole in his muffler. My mom had to pay for it, so that sucked. I was only 14 years old, so I wasn't supposed to be driving yet, but he was teaching me how to drive. I didn't hit the brake coming down the hill.

My uncle Jerome had one of these, and he just spent so much time on it. He came over for Thanksgiving and would be on his car instead of eating with everybody. It was one of those things that he came to show off and every time he came for an event, whether it was Thanksgiving or Christmas, he’d always be adding a new part. Whether it was a new radio or wheels or a paint job, he always had something new. That was always his project that he was showing off. As kids, my cousins and I always just wanted to sit in it and listen to the radio and just vibe out. He didn't want us near it, though, because he thought we were going to break it or scratch it.

COPO was a upgrade on top of a upgrade. From hugger orange and bright yellow to Olympic gold with dark green interior, the colors usually really stand out on these. The car already came with 450 horsepower and Chevelle quickly became the strongest regular four-speed stick. It was considered a drag car as is.

I love putting Red Line tires on these cars. You know you gotta have the Super Sport for that, too. This is a car you gotta hold on to. These are just a fast joint. The grill really separates this car from the others. That grill was special.

My cousin used to have one of these. I think it was an ugly color, like a mustard and black, and it was extremely loud. But that thing was extremely fast. It really got up. He would always be doing donuts around the parking lot with that, so that always stuck out. As a kid you remember that or keep that in your mind because that’s the cool guy. You want to be like the cool guy.

Of the 687 GSXs built, only 488 were ordered with the Stage 1 upgrade, so this car was pretty exclusive. The upgrade cost $113 on a GSX, but it was worth it. Motor Trend crowned it the "quickest American production car we have ever tested" after it ran a 13.38-second pass at 105.5 mph. Any way you cut it, Buick had earned its place on muscle's all-time, all-star team.

I like the '65 GTO. It was the first year the body changed and it had the hood scoop that was used for a cold air intake. It had a four-gear stick and had a 389 with the tri-power package. It had three two-barrel carburetors that pushed out 360 horses.
