10 Impressive MLB Car Collections

Team: Detroit Tigers
Position: Starting Pitcher
Cars: Lamborghini Aventador Roadster, Mercedes-Benz SLS Black Series, Ferrari 458 Italia, Ferrari F12berlinetta, Mercedes-Benz SL55, Maserati GranTurismo, Ferrari California (?), Aston Martin DBS (?)

Back in November of '11, Verlander admitted on the Dan Patrick Show that he used to have a license plate that read, "BRNGN IT". That was on a Mercedes-Benz SL55. Since then, his license plate ridiculousness has gone down, but his dominance in the league has gone up, as has his car game. Since then, he's been seen in a gullwing SLS (first was the GT, then the Black Series), a plethora of Ferraris (reportedly he also had a California), and a Maserati. It's also been floated that he has an Aston Martin DBS, but we haven't been able to find a photo. Even his dad's got a Corvette ZR1 with a license plate that stunts on everybody.

Position: Second Base
Cars: McLaren 12C, Custom Home Run Derby Jeep Wrangler, Mercedes-Benz S550, Range Rover Sport, Custom Porsche Panamera 4S, Ferrari California

Cano was in the MLB headlines this week, when it was an excerpt from Mariano Rivera's book revealed that the greatest closer in the game would choose rival Boston Red Sox 2B Dustin Pedroia over the former Yankees 2B (Cano). That's a controversial statement from multiple angles, but in the Rides section here, we're not super concerned about his play on the field. We'd choose Cano's car collection over another MLB player (not just 2B) 9/10 times.

Cars: Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale, MC Customs Range Rover, MC Customs Porsche Panamera

Mr. Aybar isn't exactly the star on the Halos, especially with Pujols and Hamilton in town these days, but he's earned a starting postition, and his duo of whips is certainly worth the spotligiht (RIDES mag took notice - go HERE for the photo shoot). The Range and the Stradale are completely custom, with new rims, new paint, new sounds, and new trims.

Team: New York Yankees
Position: Third Base
Cars: Porsche 911 Convertible, Maybach 57, A Mercedes-Benz Dealership, Ferrari 575 Maranello

A-Rod might not have the largest collection sitting at home, but thanks to owning his own Mercedes-Benz dealership down in Texas, he's technically got access to a bigger fleet than anybody on this list. Considering he's suspended, we imagine he'll be spending plenty of time relaxing in those plush Maybach reclining seats. Or maybe the new S-Class?

Cars: Custom Chevy Camaro, Custom Hummer H2, Custom Rolls-Royce Ghost

Victor Martinez has been one of the most consistent catchers players in the MLB since he started getting legit playing time in 2004. That's allowed him to sign a couple solid contracts, giving him more than enough money to choose the cars he wishes to drive. His garage ranges from a compeltely customized fifth-gen Camaro (with some pretty bizarre wheels) to the classy Rolls-Royce.

Position: Starting Pitcher
Cars: Ferrari 612, Range Rover, Rolls-Royce Phantom

Just a couple years ago, C.C. was the league's highest-paid pitcher ever. That's what happens when you come to New York. And although some might think that people working in the big city don't need cars, he still had plenty of time in Cleveland and now lives in New Jersey. We love that he's got a 612 and not a California or 458 like every other celebrity.

Cars: Police Cruiser, 1964 Cadillac Coupe Deville, Murdered-Out Chevrolet Avalanche, Scooter

Brian Wilson is one of the most fun characters in Major League Baseball, and his auto collection reflects that fun personality. The Police Cruiser that he drives has a working loudspeaker in it, and check out the Air Mags dude is wearing on that scooter. Top it off with a classic Cadillac, and our favorite blacked-out look on the Avalanche (R.I.P.), and he's got a winning combo.

Team: Cincinnati Reds
Position: Closer
Cars: MC Customs Lamborghini Murcielago, Bentley Continental GT, Mercedes-Benz S63

Although a few people might have bigger, better car collections than the Reds closer, nobody's got a better license plate game. Chapman, who is known for a blistering fastball that can reach up to 105 mph, has had plates that read "101MPH" and "102MPH." (Check out his RIDES spread HERE). He's also been pulled over going nearly 100 mph. When you're in that mindset day in and day out at your job, we imagine it's probably pretty hard to slow down.

You'd think professional baseball players would know where to park their cars. Yet, a story still came out of spring training last year about Albert Pujols' Rolls-Royce getting clunked by a shot over the fence. It's cool, he probably just drive his F-150 ... or his Lambo ... or his Flying Spur .. or his 7-Series while the Rollie was in the shop. We're glad his collection is nice and safe in the warmer weather of California.

In the NBA, LeBron is king. He's the reigning champ, he's the most athletic player in the league, and without a doubt, the best basketball player on the planet right now. In the MLB, Felix Hernandez holds the nickname "King Felix," thanks to a USSMariner.com blog that gave him the title before he even got the majors. Unlike LeBron, Felix is not the most athletic, he's not exactly the clear-cut best pitcher, and his team certainly hasn't won any world titles lately. However, he recently became the highest-paid pitcher in league history, and his car game runs high above everybody. Most of the cars in the collection you see above were all before his new seven-year, $175M contract, with the Ferrari being his only new purchase. Can you image what his garage is going to look like in two years?
