The Steelers finally got a win on Monday night, and their drama from the week before appeared to subside with Antonio Brown back in uniform, where he caught his second touchdown of the young season. But their running back situation remains in limbo with Le'Veon Bell missing his third game of the season as he holds out. One of the most well-known former Steelers, James Harrison, was asked about the situation on Fox Sports 1, and his response was about what you'd expect from the man who takes his son's participation trophies away to make a point.
"If I'm Le'Veon...I'm coming back, what is it, Nov. 13?" he said. "I'm going to go in there, I'm gonna get my credit this season that I need to get, and I'm going to do the best I can to get out of this season healthy." Nov. 13 is the date Bell has to report to the Steelers or else forfeit his right to be a free agent this summer.
"For me, I'd give you everything at practice. You'd see—the cameras would see—that I'm fine, I'm healthy. But come Saturday, 'Something ain't right. I can't play on Sunday.' Because if I go out here and I mess something up, I'm losing a lot of money."
Before the season began, Bell refused to sign his franchise tender for $14.5 million and has already lost over $2.5 million by sitting out the first three games of the 2018-19 campaign. Some of his teammates have also publicly derided his decision to remain absent from the team.
In an effort to mitigate the problem continuing to hang over the season, the Steelers recently began listening to trade offers for their absent RB, and it appears unlikely he'll suit up for them this year.
