Wifey Showdown: MMA vs. Boxing

The debate over boxing vs. MMA has been raging for years. This weekend things come to a head because Pacquiao vs. Marquez III and UFC on Fox (Velasquez vs. Dos Santos) both go down on Saturday night.

We've already shown you how brutal mixed martial arts and boxing can be so now it's time to examine the gentler side of combat sports. That's right, we're talking about the wifeys and we've rounded up WAGs in an effort to determine which fighters have the hotter women in their corner. Wifey Of: Carl Froch
Englishman Carl Froch is one of the top middleweight boxers in the game and he has an opportunity to gain even more recognition if he can take out Andre Ward in the Super Six Final next month. But for now we're recognizing him for his better half, glamour model Rachael Cordingley. Peep some of her finer work. You think Froch listens to that old saying of "no sex while training for a fight?" FOH, with that. Sorry, Pac-Man.

Wifey of: Matt Hamill
This year hasn't been too good for Matt Hamill. He lost to Rampage Jackson at UFC 130 and then to Alexander Gustafsson a few months later at UFC 133. Despite his troubles in the octagon, Hamill gained props from fans for bagging the 2010 Hooters Girl of the Year, Wendy Foster. Ms. Foster is a model now but says her previous job was as an insurance agent. Nothing like a dime piece with some good...uh, we mean, who has a good brain.

Wifey of: BJ Penn
The fact that this beautiful girl-next-door is with BJ Penn seems crazy. The dude once licked his opponent's blood off his gloves. Yet, he goes home to the lady picture above and it's all snuggle time. The two have been together for a few years and welcomed a daughter in October of 2008. Because of that, Penn said he was retiring after his last fight. If you quit your job for your wife (and kids), she must be fine.

Wifey Of: Manny Pacquiao
The man widely recognized as boxing's current pound-for-pound king is married and has four children with Jinkee Pacquiao, but some reports have suggested he may some things brewing on the side. Last month, rumors spread that Pacquiao fathered a child with Kat Ordoñez, a 22-year-old student. When Pacquaio showed up to the baptism of her child, the rumors started flying.

Both Ordonez and Pacquiao have denied the claims but Pac-Man was embroiled in similar drama in 2009. Back then he was rumored to be in a relationship with actress Krista Ranillo while they co-starred in the movie Wapakman. Despite these allegations, Jinkee has said, "I'm the original, not the other woman." Jesus. If that's not a #getoffme statement, we don't know what is.

Wifey of: Wataru Sakata
Wataru Sakata isn't well-known on the American MMA scene. In Japan he's only known for taking a beating from MMA promoter Akira Maeda for losing a match too quickly. In spite of his soft rep, Sakata was somehow able to wife up model, and former PRIDE Fighting Championships spokesperson, Eiko Koike. We don't get it either, but that doesn't make her less hot.

Wifey of: Vitor Belfort
Joana Prado also goes by the name "Feiticeira" which means "witch" in Portuguese. Why such a lovely lady would pick that nickname, we have no clue. And, that's the only bad thing we have to say about her.

Joana and Vitor are married and have three kids. but she's no trophy wife. She gained fame as a Brazilian model and TV host. Prado has also appeared on the cover of the Brazilian issue of Playboy numerous times. Get Googling, fam.

Wifey of: Brock Lesnar
Brock Lesnar and Sable have been married since 2006 and have two kids together. Both are known for their careers in the WWE and now that Brock's moved over to the UFC, Sable has been seen at his matches (however far and few between they've been) showing that support. Real sports and real love >>>.

Wifey Of: Shane Mosley
Sugar Shane is has slowed down in the ring, losing three of his last six fights. Give the guy a break. He's 40. Outside the ring, his game is as on point as ever.

During his bout with Manny Pacquaio in May, fans saw how much the former welterweight champ had aged. But we also couldn't help but notice the hottie seated ringside emphatically cheering him on. The 21-year-old Cuban model took up for her man after the L and even called for an investigation into the possibility that Pac-Man used steroids. Whoa. Ride-or-die chicks, FTW.

Wifey of: Tito Ortiz
Tito Ortiz and Jenna Jameson have been a unit since 2006 and they've seen good and bad times together. Jenna gave birth to the couple's twins in March of 2009 but, a year later, Tito was arrested for domestic violence against the former adult starlet.

Despite the incident, the couple remains together and is one of the most well-known couples in MMA. Who said athlete x porn star relationships were all about quickies on the low? Oh yeah, we did.

Wifey of: Floyd Mayweather, Jr.
Money May has been in the news over the last year with some negative headlines involving his ex-girlfriend and baby mama, Josie Harris. A domestic violence case from September 2010 has Mayweather looking at a possibility of 34 years in prison. Legal issues aside, what better way to move on from the drama of past relationships than to start anew with a dime piece. For the champ, that came in the form of model Shantel Jackson. According to Miss Jackson, the two met as they were picking up their cars from valet and now, a few years later, they're engaged. Soundtrack, please!
