Birthdays are the one day out of the year where everyone has the right to do crazy shit without any regrets. For Delonte West though, that kind of fuckery can go down whenever, not just his born day—dude is to crazy what gum is to sidewalks: stuck on it. As a b-day salute, we present his craziest moments. Many happy returns of the day D-West!
5. "Wiyyaa Hangaa" Commercial
When: 2006
Moment: In this promo spot for the Boston Celtics, Delonte gives a lesson on pronunciation, as well as how they play homemade hoops in the Urrea.
Complex Says: "When you cut the lights off, you know it's whooping time." Yup.
"G-Code" Interview and Photo Shoot
When: 2008
Moment: In this interview and photo shoot for Dime magazine, Delonte talks about his style and reveals his "G-Code" tattoo.
Complex says: Hmmm. We're guessing that smashing your teammate's mom is most definitely a "G-Code" violation. Just sayin'.
KFC Freestyle
When: 2009
Moment: After ordering nearly $50 worth of food (*cough* munchies *cough*) at KFC, Delonte and his cousin spit some hot bars while waiting for their order.
Complex says: Hot sauce in my bag? Dude's at least as clever as OJ Da Juiceman. SAUCE!
Always Strapped
When: 9/17/2009
Moment: West was arrested during a traffic stop when he was found to have a 9mm and a .357 Magnum, in addition to a shotgun in a guitar case. West pled guilty and was sentenced to probation, community service, and electronic monitoring.
Complex says: Carrying three pieces, including one in a guitar case, all while riding a three-wheeler sounds pretty fucking crazy. Either that, or dude just felt like getting on his El Mariachi steez.
Allegedly Smashing LeBron James' Mom
When: 5/14/2010
Moment: Former NBA player and broadcaster Calvin Murphy says he has sources that confirm Delonte West's affair with Gloria James.
Complex says: Delonte never spoke publicly about the allegation, and it seems far-fetched—but after seeing the other fuckery on this list, would you put it past dude? Plus, we heard Delonte never got over this.
