UPDATE 2/08/2016 1:07PM: Daniel Bryan announced on Twitter that he will be retiring from professional wrestling. It looks like it's due to his ongoing injuries, and his appearance on Raw tonight will be to further explain himself.

Due to medical reasons, effective immediately, I am announcing my retirement. Tonight on Raw, I'll have a chance to elaborate. #gratitude

The Wrestling Observer is mirroring the same sentiment, and WWE.com states that Bryan "would be retiring from in-ring competition," effective immediately. The WWE has lost a real one.

See original story below.

The saga of Daniel Bryan's WWE status continues on, and this new rumor is sure to get fans excited.

While Bryan has been itching to get cleared for months, the WWE's doctor hasn't given him the go-ahead, for good reason (aka he's been injured in one way or another for the last few years, including suffering multiple concussions).  New rumors from multiple sites are saying that Bryan will be making some kind of appearance on WWE Raw tonight. Uproxx points out that, outside of being featured on Total Divas, this would be Bryan's first appearance on WWE programming since his judging stint for Tough Enough.

The question is, what the hell would Daniel Bryan be doing? There's been no word about him being cleared, so either that actually happened...or it didn't, and Bryan would be appearing like he always has: popping the crowd because he's so over, but not getting physical. The show will be live in Washington, which is Daniel Bryan's hometown, so maybe they just want to get the hometown crowd behind their boy for a segment?

Whatever the case may be, it could be a different Daniel Bryan than we've seen, as he's been spotted with a newly trimmed beard on the 'gram (which is different than his look in a new Tide commercial spot. We'll keep it locked...hopefully he's back? Fingers crossed?

People are STILL telling me no, @DanicaPatrick. It’s my job to change their answer to… #SmallButPowerful @Tide #ad pic.twitter.com/Jw1KcqhPiv
