Former NFL player Kellen Winslow Jr. was arrested in San Diego, California on Thursday on nine criminal charges, including kidnapping with intent to commit rape, forcible rape, and forcible sodomy, TMZ Sports reports. If he is indicted on all charges, he faces life in prison. He's scheduled to be arraigned on Friday.
The San Diego Union Tribune reports that Winslow appeared to target older women. The charges include the kidnap, rape and forced oral copulation of a 54-year-old woman in March; the kidnap, rape and sodomy of a 59-year-old woman in May; burglary with the intent to rape a 71-year-old woman in June; and, finally, burglary with the intent to rape an 86-year-old woman, also in June.
The full list of charges against Winslow reads: two counts of kidnapping with intent to commit rape, two counts of forcible rape, one count of forcible sodomy, one count of forcible oral copulation, one count of residential burglary, and one count of indecent exposure. In addition, a search warrant has been issued for his home.
Winslow was also arrested last week for felony burglary when he was accused of breaking into a mobile home near San Diego. It is unclear if that arrest has anything to do with the recent charges, but he was released after posting $50,000 bail. For that case, he faces six years in prison, per TMZ Sports. In addition, he was arrested for allegedly masturbating in a parking lot back in 2014.
Winslow, who is now 34, was a tight end in the NFL from 2004 to 2013. He was drafted as the sixth overall pick by the Cleveland Browns in 2004, and later went on to play in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New England Patriots, and the New York Jets.
