Tonight, IndyCar announced the tragic news, at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, that driver Justin Wilson had died at the age of 37 from a head injury sustained the previous day at the Pocono Raceway.
On Sunday, Wilson was struck in the head by a piece of debris from the leading car of Sage Karam, causing him to crash into an interior wall at the ABC Supply 500. The British driver was immediately airlifted to the nearby Lehigh Valley Health Network Cedar Crest Hospital in Allentown, Pa.
In a coma in the intensive care unit, Wilson had his wife Julia and two young daughters, Jane and Jessica, by his side, as well as his brother Stefan, who used the plane of NASCAR driver Tony Stewart.

With deep sadness, the parents of Justin Wilson, Keith and Lynne, his wife Julia, and his brother Stefan share the news that Justin passed away today after succumbing to injuries suffered during the Verizon IndyCar event at Pocono Raceway on Sunday, August 23.
