Jimmer Fredette put up a career-high 75 points for the Shanghai Sharks in their Chinese Basketball Association game Sunday against Beikong. His big night wasn't enough to propel the Sharks to victory, falling 137-136 after Pierre Jackson knocked down a three-pointer in the closing seconds.
After their loss, Jimmer didn't seem to want to speak all that much about his career game. Instead, he appeared more bothered over failing to get the W. "Absolutely sick about the loss tonight. But what a game it was! Proud of our guys for fighting back," he said on Chinese social media, per ESPN.
Fredette's performance surpasses his previous career mark of 73 points which he reached in a double overtime contest in his first season in the CBA. Since joining the league two years ago, Fredette has become something of a cult hero in China. He has even been given the nickname "The Lonely God" by Sharks fans.
After bouncing around the NBA from 2011 to 2016, Fredette has finally found a home in the CBA. He's averaging 38.3 points per game and a league-leading 3.9 steals per game. Even though he never got to have his game transition into NBA success, it's good that "The Lonely God" is finally getting some recognition and praise.
