Get well soon, Flip.

Minnesota Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor informed the Minneapolis Star Tribune that Flip Saunders will not be the team's head coach for the 2015-16, citing "complications resulting from his treatment for cancer."

“Not this year. I just think his illness, I mean, it’s serious," Taylor said. "At this point, if he came back I still think he’d have a hard time to recover all his energy and all that because he has been in the hospital for a long time.”

In June, Saunders was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma. At the time, doctors called the disease "treatable and curable." He underwent chemotherapy, which concluded a month ago, but remains hospitalized. The Wolves announced that Saunders' leave from the team will be more along the lines of months, rather than weeks.

Associate head coach Sam Mitchell will continue to serve as the interim head coach while general manager Milt Newton will take on other responsibilities in Saunders' absence.
