See original story below.

ESPN’s This Just In ran a segment Monday centered around a fake quote from Ja Morant about Michael Jordan.

In the fake quote, which came from Ballsack Sports, Morant said Jordan would be considered “just another superstar” if he were playing today.

ESPN seemed to conflate the Ballsack Sports quote with Taylor Rooks’ interview with Morant in which he did claim he “would’ve cooked” Jordan. Ja explained that he’s “never going to go and say nobody going to beat me 1-on-1,” regardless of the sport.

Rooks confirmed Morant never said Jordan would be “just another superstar” in today’s league.

he absolutely did not say this in the interview. and I can't believe it was broadcast that he did. there should be a correction issued for that. @espn https://t.co/F7x5Jt5r2Z

Morant also commented on the mistake.

David Jacoby, who filled in as host of today’s episode of This Just In, issued an apology for the mistake.

As the face of this I want to do three things:

1) apologize in general

2) apologize to @TaylorRooks and @JaMorant

3) Give a big shout to “Matty Ice” for watching from a what looks like a liquor store https://t.co/A0GrBV9KgV

Back in May, ESPN got burned by Ballsack Sports, which “reported” a physical confrontation between James Harden and Kyrie Irving after the latter called his former Nets teammate “washed.”
