Less than 48 hoursย after dropping his diss track "9 Out of 10"ย aimedย at Dwyane Wade,ย Aaron Gordon hopped on theย Load Management podcast to discuss the story behind the song, in which he raps about aboutย this yearโs Slam Dunk contest snub.
Gordon reveals that the plan for "9 Out of 10"ย was really put in motion after Wade had to reschedule his appearance on his "Wine Down"ย Instagram Live series. "If I canโt come on a Live,ย at least Iโm going to express myself to you,"ย Gordon explained at the 3:10 mark in the episode.
According to the Magic star,ย the track took three to four days to write,ย record,ย and shoot the video for "9 Out of 10."ย He said he decided to sit on the song for a bitย to avoidย stealingย any attention away from the ESPN docuseriesย The Last Dance.ย
Gordon admits that the song is basicallyย him "just venting"ย about what transpired during All-Star Weekend in February. As for Wade's response where he suggested that AG should trademark "9 Out of 10,"ย he said that heโs going to pass.
When asked about the prospect of Wade reuniting with Rick Rossย forย a response track, Gordon said at the 15:18 mark, confidently, "He will...He's gonna have to get back in the booth." Gordonย welcomes the challenge, saying, "That'll be good, man. It's all good, for the entertainment, it's all for the sport of it. You know what I mean, this is, like,ย attention that uplifts." And if Wade were to tapย Ross to write his lyrics, Gordon simply replied, "I love it."ย
Regardless of how long their back-and-forth goes, Gordon knows that theย ace up his sleeve is that he'sย "still on the court, and he's [Wade's]ย not," and since the future Hall of Famer now works as an analyst, he's just going to have watch him.
