Want to know what pro wrestlers have to look forward to once their careers are over? Take a look at the photo that "Stone Cold" Steve Austin posted on Twitter early Thursday morning. It shows a golf ball-sized knot poking out of his arm, and OMG, is that one of the grossest injuries ever or what? The injury isn't quite as bad as, say, the broken neck Stone Cold suffered back in 1997 at SummerSlam:
But still, look at that thing!
Austin talked about the injury on the latest episode of "The Steve Austin Show" podcast and said that, while the injury might look gruesome, it's actually a pretty common condition called olecranon bursitis that affects many former pro wrestlers. Here's what he said on the podcast:
I bent down to pick up a weight and I used my left arm, and my [expletive] left arm didn't wanna bend. And I'm like, 'Man, what the [expletive]'s wrong with my arm?' So I grabbed my left arm with my right hand, and it's like someone had buried a golf ball in my elbow.
It definitely looks a lot more gnarly than it is (which is easy to say when it's not your elbow). But hey, as long as you're in the mood for gruesome injuries, why not read up about that time Mick Foley got his ear torn off? Or that time X-Pac ripped his butthole?
