UPDATE 5/2/19:  Adding fuel to the Phoenix fire, on Tuesday, LaVar ball called into a popular Arizona sports radio show and delivered an interview that took direct shots at the Lakers and coach Luke Walton.

See original story below:

While his first choice would be for the Lakers to keep his son, LaVar Ball has at least partially accepted the idea that Lonzo could be dealt as part of a package to land a primetime player (Anthony Davis) to pair with LeBron. Ifthat were the case, he said that he would rather his oldest son be dealt to Phoenix, rather than New Orleans, where Davis currently plays. He also said that he was attempting to speak Lonzo's future run with the Suns into existence, according to ESPN's Ohm Youngmisuk:

LaVar Ball tells ESPN that if Lonzo Ball is traded, he wants his son to go to Phoenix: “We want to be in LA. But if he’s traded, I don’t want Lonzo in New Orleans. Phoenix is the best fit for him. And I am going to speak it into existence.”

This comment from the increasingly less talked about quote factory comes just hours after ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the Lakers had sweetened their offer to New Orleans in an effort to acquire Davis prior to Thursday's trade deadline. Their previous attempt had been reported as Ball, Brandon Ingram, and Kyle Kuzma, in addition to unknown draft picks and some salary-cap relief:

Currently, New Orleans has Jrue Holiday at point guard, whereas Phoenix has been playing their franchise shooting guard (Devin Booker) at the position. As for Lonzo, he's been out for the last six contests (and will continue to be out until at least late February) due to a Grade 3 ankle sprain. In this, his second season, he has averages of 9.9 points, 5.4 assists, and 5.3 rebounds per game. Those are all down from last year.

The above tweet from Woj ends by saying, "The Lakers and Pelicans are expected to talk again soon, league sources said," so we'll see if a dad with no real leverage here can make things happen again.
