On Sunday, Hall of Fame wide receiver Michael Irvin announced that tests confirm he's "100 percent" cancer free.
In an Instagram post, the former Dallas Cowboys star uploaded a picture of praying hands with a caption that shared the good news with his followers.
"Thank you God for continuing to answer Prayers and Thank you ALL for Praying. I spoke with Dr St John at UCLA Medical and she has informed me that all test have come back 100!% clean. NO CANCER," Irvin wrote.
This development comes close to a week after Irvin disclosed that he might have throat cancer. Through a previous Instagram post, Irvin explained that after losing his voice celebrating a Cowboys win he became increasingly concerned when the problem continued to plague him for months.
He then went on the share that the illness runs in his family and his father died at 51 after being diagnosed with throat cancer. As a result, Irvin confessed that he was "terrified" by the thought of being sick before requesting his fans pray for him as he underwent a biopsy. These prayers and well wishes seemed to have worked and Irvin shared his appreciation.
"It is impossible to express my family and my appreciation for the overwhelming out pour of love, support and prayers," Irvin said in Sunday's post. "I was on my threshing floor dealing with the stronghold of fear. You all covered and encourage me... To God be the Glory."
