Where do you have to take risks in your life? How do you respond to pressure? What will you do when you must confront the unknown?
These are questions we all face. And there are no easy answers.
But the Team Ignition Show, a new podcast hosted by pro skateboarder and racing driver Leticia Bufoni, sees Bufoni test her limits to investigate. And Bufoni is uniquely qualified in this space. A world famous street skater, she captured six X-Games gold medals and a Street League Skateboarding Super Crown Championship, then shifted her attention to rallycross and sprint car racing. "In skateboarding, the first thing you learn is to fall,” Bufoni says, a fearless attitude she applies to the new pod. On the Team Ignition Show, Bufoni meets people who share her adventurous mindset, “to find out what drives them and look deeper into the relationship between performance and pressure.”
She’s already linked with shark expert and marine conservationist Ocean Ramsey, professional climber Alex Johnson, and BASE Jumper Jeb Corliss. Next up for Bufoni and the Team Ignition Show is fellow pro skater and Nike SB rider, Dashawn Jordan.
Jordan hails from Chandler, Arizona, and rides for April Skateboards. He’s known for winning the 2017 Street League Chicago contest as an amateur without a board sponsor, as well as for landing laser flips at huge moments in big competitions and his ability to boardslide up rails. "He'll go the wrong direction. Like everyone will be skating down a rail, he would be skating up,” Bufoni says. Jordan is also a successful recording artist.
Today, the Team Ignition Show dropped a video of Bufoni and Jordan skating and discussing the big Street League win that helped him turn pro, as well as slamming, getting back up to try again, and the mental aspects of being a pro skater. The clip delivers real-time, expert insights into risk and reward, with the two going deep on their approaches to pushing themselves and skating contests. Jordan even puts in the work to get a clean make on one of his signature tricks, while Bufoni explains just how difficult it is.
Watch above, then check out the full Dashawn Jordan Team Ignition Show podcast below to hear the pros talk more about skateboarding, Jordan’s childhood growing up with a supportive mom and loving sisters and, of course, the value of risk.
"Risking is everything,” Jordan says. “That's where you really learn about yourself and push yourself, and you really unlock your mind to believe anything is possible."
Sounds like a good summary of the Team Ignition Show’s mission to us.
