Aaron Rodgers is, without a doubt, the king of the Discount Double Check. The Packers quarterback started using it to celebrate touchdowns during games a few years ago. And ever since, his Discount Double Check celebration has been everywhere. He has found new and fun ways to work it into his State Farm TV spots, and at this point, we imagine that he can’t step out of his house without someone yelling, “Hey, Rodgers!” and doing the Discount Double Check in his direction.
Rodgers isn’t the only professional athlete to ever use the celebration, though. Since he started doing it, we’ve seen quite a few other guys who have done it, too. So we decided to bring the best ones together in one place. These are The Best Discount Double Check Celebrations Not Performed by Aaron Rodgers.
J.J. Watt
When: October 2012
Watt looked like he had been saving up his Discount Double Check for months. After he sacked Aaron Rodgers during a regular season game against the Packers, he rubbed salt in the wound by mocking Rodgers’ trademark celebration. Rodgers got his revenge, though. He ended up throwing six touchdowns during the game and led Green Bay to a 42-24 victory.
Nate Robinson

If you’re going to use someone else’s celebration dance, the least you can do is try and improve upon it and make it your own. And that’s exactly what Robinson did back when he was running with the Bulls. He hit a big three-pointer and then did one, two, three, four, five, six Discount Double Checks while swaggering back to his bench. That’s six times the usual fun!

Over the last few years, there have been a handful of defensive players in the NFL who have celebrated sacking Aaron Rodgers by using his own celebration against him. But you won’t find many who have done it with the kind of energy that Irvin brought here. There aren’t many quarterbacks out there who would dare to steal Aaron Rodgers’ Discount Double Check celebration. It’s Rodgers’ move! But after scoring the winning touchdown in a game against Northwestern two years ago, Penn State quarterback Matt McGloin, who plays for the Oakland Raiders now, just couldn’t contain himself. He dove into the end zone, got up, and—boom! He did the Discount Double Check celebration for everyone gathered in Happy Valley.

The former Knicks guard didn’t just borrow Aaron Rodgers’ Discount Double Check celebration once or twice—he pretty made it a part of his regular routine out on the court when he was playing in New York. He'd hit a shot, and then do a Discount Double Check. Hit another shot, and do another Discount Double Check. Sink a clutch three-pointer, and, well, you get the point. But it never got old, and Madison Square Garden would explode every single time Novak did it.
Dominic Raiola

It’s not often that you see an NFL center—yes, an NFL center—celebrating. Centers snap the football to the quarterback and then the quarterback is the one who gets to celebrate if he does something special with it. But Raiola, a center for the Lions, managed to work a Discount Double Check into a game against the Bears last season. It wasn't the most exciting Discount Double Check that we’ve ever seen. But it was definitely one of the more creative celebrations that an NFL center has ever done.

The Packers nose tackle doesn’t get many chances to celebrate touchdowns. So after he picked off a pass against the Bears and ran it back for a touchdown during a playoff game a few seasons ago, he lost it. He put his hands on his hips and started doing a ridiculous dance. But he saved himself at the end by breaking out the Discount Double Check, which all of his teammates—Aaron Rodgers included—appreciated.
Rasheed Wallace

Wallace didn’t do a whole lot for the Knicks during his time in New York. He only played in 21 games during the 2012-13 NBA season. But during a blowout win against the Heat midway through that season, he did provide his best Knicks highlight by directing the Discount Double Check towards several Miami players after his teammate Steve Novak—a Discount Double Check fan in his own right—sunk a big shot. Contrary to what you might think after reading this list, it’s not easy to sack Aaron Rodgers. Sure, we’ve shown you several examples of him getting sacked here. But it doesn’t happen all that often. It happened four times during the Giants’ playoff game against the Packers at the end of the 2011-12 NFL season, though, and on one of those sacks, Giants linebacker Michael Boley celebrated by breaking out the Discount Double Check. What a way to celebrate a sack and a huge playoff win for the G-Men.

A lot of people say that Mitchell is actually the originator of the Discount Double Check. The former Eagles wide receiver did his “Championship Belt” celebration every time he picked up a big gain or scored a touchdown. But it took a star as bright as Aaron Rodgers to make the celebration as big as it has become today.
