First things first: We're fairly certain that Bryce Harper is not going to play in the NFL. Like, ever. If you haven't noticed lately, the whole baseball thing is working out pretty well for him. So he won't need to pick up a second sport.
But if he ever does decide to make the jump to the NFL, he's not going to be able to play cornerback. At least, he's not going to be able to play cornerback for the Redskins. Because according to Washington general manager Scot McCloughan, Harper would be a safety in the NFL since, you know, he's white and all.
"Probably strong safety," McCloughan said during a recent interview on 106.7 The Fan in Washington after he was asked about what position Harper would play in the NFL. "But I went to a game a couple weeks ago, and he flipped his hips and caught a fly ball out in right field in the corner, and I thought, maybe [cornerback]. But I'm thinking, uh, okay, no, he's gotta be a safety. He's a white guy."
Again, Harper will NOT be playing the NFL anytime soon. So he doesn't have to worry about what McCloughan thinks. But damn…White guys can't play corner?!
