If the Mets are going to make another trip to the World Series this season, they’re going to need Matt Harvey to pitch his best. They’re also going to need him to start using the bathroom on a regular basis.

On Monday, reports emerged indicating that Harvey was suffering from a mysterious ailment that was possibly going to prevent him from pitching on Opening Day. Today, Harvey revealed what the ailment was—a bladder infection that caused blood clots. And he also revealed that the blood clots formed as a result of him not peeing often enough.

Newsday reporter Marc Carig shared the news on Twitter a short time ago:

Fortunately, it sounds like Harvey will be good to go (uhhhh...) once Opening Day rolls around. But his team's success this season could ultimately hinge on his ability to use to the bathroom. That's so Mets.
