Sadly, yet anotherMMA fighter is in trouble for allegedly assaulting his significant other.
Over the years, Thiago Silva, Anthony Johnson, and others have been hit with domestic violence-related charges. Former UFC fighter Lavar Johnson has now been charged with them, too.
According to police in Fresno, Calif., Johnson attacked his girlfriend during a domestic dispute back in August. His girlfriend claims that he slammed her against the wall and ground multiple times, kneed her in the face, and punched her with a closed fist more than 10 times. When police arrived on the scene, Johnson wasn’t there, but his girlfriend was, and she needed to be taken to a hospital for medical attention. One of the gashes on her head was reportedly so bad that it needed to be stapled shut.
Johnson has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon and other serious felony charges. He has pleaded not guilty, but he is behind bars right now. It’s a shame that we continue to hear stories like this involving MMA fighters so often.
