Fake Klay Thompson Was the Best Part of the NBA's Opening Night

This guy is really committed to impersonating Klay Thompson.

Outside of the horrific leg injury that Gordon Hayward suffered within about five minutes of his first game with the Celtics, the NBA’s opening night was a success on Tuesday. The Cavaliers and Celtics game went down to the wire with Cleveland edging out Boston by 3 points after opening up a 16-point lead at halftime, and the Rockets overcame a 17-point deficit to stun the Warriors in the second game of the night, much to the chagrin of all of the Warriors players who spent the early part of the evening celebrating their new NBA championship rings.

But the best part of the night, without a doubt, was the reemergence of Fake Klay Thompson. Fake Klay Thompson—who is actually a YouTube personality named BigDawsTV—has shown up at Warriors games before. He was actually in the building when the Warriors won the NBA title last June, outfitted in a full Thompson uniform.

And on the night when the Warriors looked back on that title by raising a banner into the rafters at Oracle Arena, Fake Klay Thompson showed up again and stole the show by sitting behind the Warriors’ bench. He even made an appearance on the team's official Twitter account at one point.

He took photos with "fans."

He also did an interview and spoke briefly about how he believes he is Thompson's "spirit animal."

But most importantly, he sparked a lot of jokes on social media throughout the course of the game. People were so fixated on Fake Klay Thompson that they couldn’t even focus on what was taking place on the court, and the jokes were endless.

Fake Klay took to Twitter himself to reveal that Kevin Durant high-fived him and called him "Klay" at one point.

Kevin Durant just gave me a high five and referred to me as "Klay"

He also played up the fact that he was getting roasted relentlessly.

Damn Fake Klay is getting ROASTED 😂😂

And he suggested that the Warriors could have won—if only Steve Kerr had thought to put him in.

We would have won if coach put me in.

Maybe next time!
