For the second week in a row, Odell Beckham Jr. did everything he could physically do to help the Giants win the game only to find a depressing truth: He can't save the Giants from themselves.
Last week, the Giants didn't have enough time to mount a comeback against the Redskins. This week was more of the norm. The Giants, running on hockey time, played three quarters instead of four. After being down 20-10, the Jets came back with the help of a huge 9-yard touchdown catch by Brandon Marshall.
The Giants held the Jets to a field goal on their opening overtime drive. But Beckham was still on the field. He made a crucial diving catch on a fourth down to help push the Giants into field goal range. He did all that for Josh Brown to miss and doom the Giants to 5-7.
However, head coach Tom Coughlin has to take a lot of the blame for this L. Before the comeback, the Giants were at the Jets' 4-yard line on fourth down with just nine minutes left to play. Up 20-10, it seems like an easy decision to just kick the field goal, right?
If the Giants went for a field goal (and made it) and stopped the Jets for two drives, we'd be having a whole other conversation. But instead:
This is the fourth time the Giants blew a lead in the final minute of the game. That ties a record.
