Former Arizona Cardinals running back Chris Johnson has been accused of being involved in a murder-for-hire plot that left two dead in 2016. TMZ reports that Johnson has not been formally charged, but authorities have indicated there could be a case against the 34-year-old, who also played for the Tennessee Titans and the New York Jets.

In 2015, Johnson was shot at during a drive-by in Orlando, Florida, which resulted in the death of his friend Dreekius. While Johnson sustained an injury after taking a bullet to the shoulder, he and another passenger involved in the incident made a full recovery. Law enforcement believes Johnson gave cash to a gang member to kill the two men suspected of killing his friend, and officials noted that Florida gang member Dominic Bolden shot and killed two men in January and July 2016.

Court documents claim that Johnson solicited the killings, helping Bolden allegedly become the leader of a drug trafficking ring in Florida. An informant told authorities Bolden was given "funds and an individual who could continually supply Dominic Bolden with as much narcotics as needed to supply the DTO" by Johnson. They added that the "murder for hire elevated Dominic Bolden's rank, reputation and power within the DTO."

Not only do the documents accuse Johnson of hiring a gunman to kill two men, he's also been accused of helping with the drug trafficking organization in general. He has denied the accusations, with a representative telling TMZ "there's no validity to any of these accusations."
