Tottenham Hotspur and England midfielder, Dele Alli was punched in the face and held at knifepoint when armed robbers broke into his home and stole jewellery.

According to The Sun, Alli was punched in the mouth by two masked robbers who were both armed with knives. They ordered Alli, his brother and his girlfriend to hand over valuables.

The 24-year-old star told The Sun that he was playing pool at his home in Hadley Wood, North East London, during the early hours of Wednesday morning when the incident took place. The two robbers fled from the scene with two of his watches, as well as jewellery belonging to his girlfriend, whom he has been spending lockdown with.

"Police were called at approximately 12.35am on Wednesday, May 13, to reports of a robbery at a residential address," a Police spokesperson said. "Two males gained entry to the property and stole items of jewellery, including watches, before fleeing."

After describing the incident as a "horrible experience", Alli took to Twitter to let fans know that all is OK and thanked everyone for their well wishes:

Thank you for all the messages. Horrible experience but we’re all okay now. Appreciate the support.
