Incoming Knicks president Leon Rose is looking to switch things up on the team by bringing in a former player.

The New York Post reports that next season might mark the return of Carmelo Anthony to the NBA team. Since 2009, Anthony has navigated the league with Rose as his agent with Creative Artists Agency. Anthony hired Rose to partially manage his exit from Denver to the Knicks at the 2011 trade deadline. Now the pair’s work together will end as Rose assumes responsibility for the Knicks.

Anthony, who signed with the Trail Blazers in November, didn’t dismiss his return to the Knicks. “It’s hard to say because I don’t know what that situation is going to be,” Anthony told Newsday. “The easiest thing to say is, ‘His agent is there, he’s coming back.’ Until I sit down and see the whole plan, I don’t know.”

“Me and him, we talk multiple times a week,” Anthony continued. “That’s not something we even discuss. I still think it’s still a shock for everybody. When the offseason comes…I got to be careful now because it’s tampering.”

Anthony told Bleacher Report that Rose will be effective for the Knicks, having previously worked with some of the league’s biggest stars. “He had all of us at one time,’’ Anthony told the outlet. “Me, Bron, D-Wade, CP, Bosh. He had the best of the best. And I think people respected that. He never burned bridges. He was always honest with everybody.’’

It’s anticipated that the Knicks will make an official statement about Rose’s new position as soon as Monday. “Player relations, he’s very big on that,” Anthony said, per the Post. “Deal-making, very big on that. Communicating. Knowing personnel. He’s been in this game for a long time. He’s represented the best of the best in this game. He knows. He’s made deals. That’s just what he does. He’s good at running his organization and his own business.”
