The 38-year-old Judge has been with the Patriots organization since 2012. He started off as a special teams assistant before becoming the special teams coordinator and wide receivers coach. Although Judge has been a part of a championship-winning franchise, he's still relatively unknown, especially in comparison to other high profile candidates. Additionally, the Patriots' Achilles heel this season, was their lackluster play at the wide receiver position. With that said, it's not hard to predict how people reacted to the surprising hire.
Stephen A. Smith was particularly harsh, saying that "black men are being ostracized" from key positions in hte NFL.
Now the Giants are looking to fill out the rest of the coaching staff. ESPN's Ed Werder reports that the team has requested to interview former Cowboys coach, Jason Garrett, for their open offensive coordinator position.
