A range of emotions. Mostly anger, though.

Carson Wentz walks off the field with a suspected torn ACL.

On Sunday afternoon, during what was probably the biggest NFL matchup of the week, Eagles quarterback and MVP short-lister Carson Wentz exited the game with what turned out the be a torn ACL in his left knee. Not surprisingly, Wentz is out for the rest of the season/postseason, and though backup Nick Foles kind of overcame a deficit yesterday to lead the team to victory, it is still undoubtedly a nut-shot to 11-2 Philadelphia's Super Bowl hopes. Also not surprisingly, shortly after the news about the second-year QB became official, a number of Philly fans took to Twitter to share a range of emotions: some resignation, some slight optimism, but mostly just total misery.

Here's a sampling of a mood that has to be widespread throughout eastern Pennsylvania today:

I’m obviously bulletproof when It comes to Sixers injury news & setbacks, but with Wentz... I just thought this year was different, man, an obviously foolish assumption on my part.

I don't think people outside of Philadelphia realize how much Carson Wentz did for this city. We are a football city, through and through. Carson brought hope; he was a figure for the city to latch on to. I thank him for these amazing 14 weeks and more in the future

Carson Wentz news is awful no matter what.

But they were the best team in the NFL with him. That just makes it brutal.

Now I have to live the rest of my life wondering "what if wentz didn't tear his acl in 2017"....

I’ll never forget how sick I was the day Randall Cunningham was hit by Bryce Paup in the ‘91 opener vs the Packers and was done for the season. That was supposed to be a special year. I was 16 yrs old. Woke up this morning feeling the same way about Carson Wentz. Bummed out.

Wentz ➡️ ACL tear
Fultz ➡️ lost a shoulder
Meek ➡️ locked up

Tough times in Philadelphia. We're used to it though. 🤷‍♂️
