Thunder Come Away With Controversial Game 2 Victory Over Spurs

Should Dion Waiters have been called for an offensive foul?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure elbowing someone isn't legal in the NBA pic.twitter.com/X3aplJqSFj

What. A. Finish.

After getting demolished by the San Antonio Spurs in Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals, the Thunder nearly let another sizable lead slip through their fingers with the series headed to Oklahoma City. With 33 seconds remaining, Kevin Durant put the Thunder up by five. On the ensuing possession, LaMarcus Aldridge, who was 0-for-16 from downtown this season, knocked down a three-pointer to cut the deficit to two.

On the following possession for the Spurs, Aldridge was fouled beyond the arc by an overzealous Serge Ibaka. Then, there was the controversial inbounds play from Dion Waiters. It appears that Waiters elbowed Manu Ginobili who was guarding the inbounds pass.

While the Spurs did force a turnover on the play and have a chance to win the game before time expired, much is being made about the referees swallowing their whistles when an offensive foul should've been called on Waiters. If the refs did call a foul on Dion, the Spurs would've had a chance to set up a play to win the game.
