"Muscle Hamster" just wasn't doing it for Doug Martin.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back, owner of one of the more unique nicknames in all of sports, would prefer if you called him something else.

Martin, who leads the Bucs with 405 yards rushing this season, including back-to-back 100-yard afternoons, made his intentions known Wednesday that from this point forward he would like to be known as the "Dougernaut."

"Dougernaut?" Martin said, according to ESPN.com. "Yeah, that's the nickname I'm going with."

The 31st pick in the 2012 NFL Draft explained to NFL AM that year how he acquired the nickname during his days at Boise State and why he hates "Muscle Hamster" so much.

"It has to be the worst nickname ever,” Martin said. "I can't shake it. It started in college, started back in Boise, with our linemen. I have a lot of bigger friends, and they'd call me the 'Muscle Hamster' because of how much I could lift in the weight room."

The Shield hasn't been paying attention.

@NFL Appreciate the shout out but can you refrain from using that name please?

So, please, for Martin's sake, stop calling him "Muscle Hamster." It's "Dougernaut" now. Not "Muscle Hamster." Dead "Muscle Hamster."
