If you're a Lakers fan it could be awhile before you see Wayne Ellington on the floor as the team gave the backup guard an "indefinite leave of absence" to deal with the death of his father, who was shot in the head in Philadelphia while sitting in his car Sunday night. He later died whilst receiving treatment at the hospital. As of now the police don't have any leads on the gunman.
Both the Lakers and Ellington released a statement, with the latter saying:
My family and I are devastated by the news of my father’s murder on Sunday night in Philadelphia. We appreciate everyone’s support and ask that you respect the privacy of our family during this very difficult time.
