Today Kevin Durant withdrew from the FIBA World Cup, and after (unfortunately) seeing what happened to Paul George we couldn't blame him. But that horrific injury is not the reason according to the OKC star. Durant said he could not fulfill his obligation from "both a time and energy standpoint," and said he "needs to prepare for the upcoming NBA season." When you think about the fact that the season stretches from Halloween to late June, you begin to understand where he's coming from. That leaves the U.S. without: LeBron, Kevin Love, Carmelo, Russell Westbrook, Durant and of course, George. How do you think the U.S. will stack-up with these glaring absences?

In three weeks we'll find out.
