Thieves Drive a Car Through the Front of a Gun Store in Georgia and Steal $70,000 Worth of Rifles

Your classic smash-and-grab.

In the state of Georgia, it takes a little bit of time to get your hands on a gun if you're interested in buying one. First, you need to apply for a firearms license. Then, you need to submit all kinds of paperwork and pay a fee in order to get your license processed. And finally, you need to wait for about 30 days in order to actually get your license so that you can buy and carry a gun legally. And apparently, a group of thieves in the Atlanta area did not want to wait for all of that to happen before they got their hands on some guns this weekend. So rather than go through the proper process, they drove their car into the front of a gun store in Newnan, Ga. early Sunday morning and made off with about $70,000 worth of high-powered rifles before driving off.

In the video above, you can see the surveillance video of the thieves at work. It features the thieves backing their car into the AR Bunker store in Newnan, tossing a bunch of guns into the back of the car, and then making a quick getaway less than a minute later. They abandoned their vehicle a short distance away and fled on foot just before police arrived. But the guns have not been recovered yet and police have been unable to track down any suspects in the crime.

The good news is that the gun shop owner was able to repair his storefront yesterday and is going to reopen for business ASAP. But unfortunately, this happens a lot at gun stores all across the country. And it doesn't sound like there's a simple solution for stopping it from happening again.
