The Last Time Hillary Clinton Got Behind the Wheel of a Car, 2Pac Was Still Alive

She's gone a long time without driving.

It's been a long time since Hillary Clinton has been behind the wheel of a car. A long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long, long time. That's 18 "longs"—one for every year it's been since she's actually driven a car herself. She admitted that she no longer drives during a speech that she gave to the National Automobile Dealers Association in New Orleans on Monday.

"The last time I actually drove a car myself was 1996," she said. "I remember it very well. Unfortunately, so does the Secret Service, which is why I haven't driven since then."

To put that into prospective, the last time Hillary Clinton drove:

  • 2Pac was still alive.
  • People were excited to go to the movies to see Jerry Maguire, Independence Day, and Happy Gilmore.
  • Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls were just beginning their second "three-peat."
  • Everyone was DVRing, er, videotaping episodes of ER, Seinfeld, and Friends.
  • A gallon of gas cost less than $1.25 on average.

We think you get the point. It's been a long time since Hillary Clinton has driven. And weirdly, that could be an issue that comes back to haunt her later, assuming she moves forward with a Presidential run in 2016. People are already starting to call her things like "out of touch" because she's routinely chauffeured around. So maybe she should consider getting behind the wheel of a car again.

How about one of these bad boys, Hillary?
