Mad as we are about BMW's names not making any sense anymore—the 335i is a 3.0L engine?— we're pumped about the BMW 328d, which features a 2.0L turbodiesel engine and "could well exceed 40 mpg." Power and torque are 180 hp and 280 lb-ft, respectively, and this is enough to get the 328d to 60 mph in a reasonably quick 7.2 seconds.
The new diesel engine will be installed in rear and all wheel drive Bimmers as well as both sedan and wagon bodystyles.
