We’ve already reported that violence among sneakerheads and surrounding sneaker releases is something that needs to be paid attention to. Whether it’s fighting, or committing violence, directly over sneakers or simply as a result of heightened emotions and egos around releases, this is a trend. As perceived value is tied to social status infighting is inevitable and here we have the latest example.
Posted to YouTube days ago, at the beginning of the campouts for the Legend Blue XIs that released yesterday, is a video of a fight that broke out between three sneakerheads. The video picks up later into the argument when two guys in Jordans are already taunting a third who is wearing sneakers the Jordan wearers couldn’t identify. Although we don’t know how the argument started, it does escalate between two of them, until the third jumps the non-Jordan wearer and all hell breaks loose.
Misconduct in line ups, and in a lot of places in all communities, comes from a lack of accountability. If you’re someone who wants to see things like this stop, pull out your camera and keep rolling.
