We're kicking off the new year properly by taking a look at future releases so we can get our sneaker money set aside properly. 2013 is looking like it's going to be filled with snakeskin covered sneakers from a number of brands looking to take advantage of the Chinese Zodiac calendar turning the page over to the Year of the Snake that begins in early February. From what we've seen so far, it's shaping up to be a good year for sneakerheads, and not just because snakeskin sneakers are cool. The major players are bringing retro heat for the majority of 2013, which will give old 'heads the chance to relive their youth and the younger 'heads a chance to learn about forgotten classics (and make fun of the old dudes for hanging on to the past). Whichever side of the sneaker you stand on, check out 25 Sneakers We're Looking Forward to in 2013.
25. Fila Stack
Releasing: Unknown
Who would of ever thought that Jerry Stackhouse would be wearing the Fila Stack in 2012? Considering most people would have never thought he'd be playing still, we're gonna say, not many. It's actually been pretty dope to see Stack rockin' the Filas out in Brooklyn, so maybe this is our one (yeah, right) sappy and nostalgic release for the year.
24. Tyler the Creator x Vans Collection
Releasing: Unknown
Tyler the Creator and Vans has the potential to be crazy. Well, anything Tyler does has that potential, but the partnership with Vans appears to have the footwear portion on point. We just hope Mr. Golf Wang gets to throw down on some apparel to go with them.
23. Nike Air Max 90 "Snakeskin Pack"
Releasing: February
There's no doubt that we'll be looking for more Nike Sportswear retro runners throughout the year but this snakeskin wrapped two-pack that is set to drop in February is damn sure a good start to 2013 for Air Max 'heads.
22. Fingercroxx x New Balance MT580
Releasing: January
Fingercroxx teamed up with New Balance for this khaki colored and camo lined MT580 that drops this month. Simply put, this colorway is dope.
21. New Balance 574 "Year of the Snake Pack"
Releasing: February
New Balance is bringing out all the stops with the Year of the Snake themed 574s. There's a handful of colorways, including this sonic welded version, which is probably just the beginning of an expensive February for New Balance 'heads.
20. adidas Tech Super
Releasing: January
adidas recently dropped new colorways of the Torsion Allegra, a silhouette that hasn't been seen for quite some time. Now it seems, they've opened up the batcave for more classics to escape, like the Super Tech, and we couldn't have asked for better. OG colors and tasteful remakes is never a bad thing.
19. Nike Air Huarache "OG"
Releasing: Unknown
We got a chance at the Free-soled Huarache in 2012 but nothing compares to the classic retro. No date has been set for the Nike Air Huarache to release but there's always a special place in our hearts for that classic Scream Green colorway.
18. Reebok DMX Run
Releasing: Spring
Most people that were lucky enough to own the Reebok DMX Run back in the day will tell you it's one of the most comfortable sneakers they've ever worn. If they tell you anything else, you might want to ask if they've been hitting the bath salts.
17. Nike Air Force 1 "Year of the Snake"
Releasing: Unknown
So maybe we're a little thirsty on this one but after seeing the snakeskin "Downtown" Air Force 1, the potential for Nike Sportswear to really drop some heat this year with the "Year of the Snake" theme is limitless. We're not even going to speculate but we'll be on the lookout for more info on these.
16. Nike Zoom Flight "The Glove"
Releasing: March
Gary Payton dropeed the info that one of his signature shoes was going to drop in 2012 but the Nike Zoom Flight "The Glove" never made its way to stores. For 2013, it's been confirmed again for a March release. Here's to hoping there aren't any setbacks, otherwise, trash-talking with GP might be a necessity.
15. Air Jordan V "Grapes"
Releasing: April
Even if you copped multiple pairs of Grape Air Jordan Vs in 2006, it's likely you're ready for a restock because this is one of those sneakers that is just easy to wear. April couldn't come fast enough.
14. adidas Real Deal
Releasing: February
Antoine Walker may not have had the staying power in the league that Jerry Stackhouse managed but it's pretty dope to see that adidas is set to bring back the Real Deal in 2013. When it comes to EQT, Feet You Wear and anything late '90s adidas hoops shoes, we'll take all the retros we can get. We'll take that connect that RegularOlTy has as well.
13. Air Jordan XX8
Releasing: February
Hate it or love it, the Air Jordan XX8 has tons of potential for crazy colorways. Whether or not it will be added to the closet remains to be seen but it's hard to not look forward to see whatever comes of this outrageous design.
12. Jeremy Scott x adidas Originals "Pink Poodles"
Releasing: March
OK, maybe we don't have the guts to go and rock these ourselves but we're damn sure curious who the first celeb to break them out will be. Do camo cargos and pink poodles go together?
11. Reebok Kamikaze II
Releasing: Spring
The Kamikaze II is a sneaker with a lot of history. Shawn Kemp made these one of the most coveted Reeboks of the '90s and we are guessing quite a few people will be looking to grab a pair.
10. Air Jordan I "Black/Royal"
Releasing: February
Kanye has been killing it with these for weeks now. Not that we didn't want them before but damn, son, let us get at these.
9. Bape x Undefeated x adidas Consortium Pack
Releasing: March
These got pushed back from the initial drop date of late 2012 and for good reason. The patience will pay off in just a few months and we can all get our camo Bathing Ape hoodies to match.
8. adidas Originals Superstar 80s "Year of the Snake"
Releasing: Spring
Year of the Snake releases will be filling up our wishlist for a good portion of the year but the timeless adidas Superstar 80s is getting a premium makeover that can't get overlooked. Grey or red colorups, it's kind of like giving you the choice of being the semi-stuntman or the real wreckless stuntman. Both will suffice.
7. Reebok Shaqnosis
Releasing: Spring
The Reebok Shaqnosis is another sneaker from the Reebok Classics vault that has been in need for a retro for quite a while. The first images of the sample of these that leaked in May had us contemplating shoecide but Swizz Beatz stepped up and ensured that they were just samples and would not be released and the OG silhouette would return in 2013.
6. Nike Air Foamposite One "Fighter Jet Camo"
Releasing: February
Fighter jet inspired camouflage Nike Air Foamposite Ones, does it get any crazier than these? This is like the Galaxy Foam release for people who don't like spaceships and prefer to stay within the earth's atmosphere. You know, like Rajon Rondo.
5. Air Jordan V "Fire Red"
Releasing: Fall
How much of a difference does that black tongue and "23" stitched into the side of the heel make on the Air Jordan V? When it comes to old 'heads, these were the ones that were exclusive to MJ himself, which gives them an edge over most Air Jordan V releases.
4. Air Jordan I "Chicago"
Releasing: January
Sweet home Chicago. There aren't too many sneakers that have the heritage this one does and we don't even really need to get into why this is one to look forward to.
3. Air Jordan XIII "Black/Red"
Releasing: January
2004 was along time ago for fans of the black and red Air Jordan XIII. Needless to say plenty of 'heads have run through those pairs and need a re-up.
2. Reebok Shaq Attaq
Releasing: Spring
Seriously, how long have we been waiting for these? We can't even remember. We just remember Shaquille O'Neal breaking backboards in them. Which is what we plan to do on our NERF hoop when we get them this spring.
1. Air Jordan III 88 OG
Releasing: February
Yeah, maybe we're hypebeasts for wanting these but the bottom line is, you can never have too many fresh pairs of the Air Jordan III on deck. Whether these came with the Nike Air on the back or the Jumpman logo, we'd be looking forward to them.
