A boring shoe is one of this week’s most-anticipated releases. Tom Sachs and Nike have linked up once again to drop the General Purpose Shoe, a shoe being billed strictly for function and practicality.
Sachs’ purposefully mundane collab isn’t the only sneaker to look forward to this week. Kasina and Nike are releasing two Air Max 1s inspired by ducks and love, the Hello Kitty x Nike Air Presto is getting a wider launch, and there are also a handful of Yeezys hitting stores as well.

Adidas Yeezy Foam Rnnr 'Onyx'

When: Wednesday, June 8 and Saturday, June 11 at 10 a.m.

What You Need to Know: The Yeezy Foam Rnnr is dropping in two new colorways later this week. The first pair is a black “Onyx” styling of the algae foam clogs arriving on Wednesday morning. There will also be a tan “Desert Sand” version releasing in full family sizing on Saturday for anybody who wants a lighter option for the summer.
Kasina x Nike Air Max 1

What You Need to Know: Kasina has once again collaborated with Nike. This time, the South Korean brand is providing its take on the classic Air Max 1. Two “Won-Ang” colorways will be available. One is dressed in various shades of blue, while the other opts for a multicolored approach. Both pairs take inspiration from Mandarin ducks that symbolize unity and love and feature premium details like pony hair panels on the upper, a translucent outsole that acts as a window to a graphic of two ducks, floral mini Swoosh embroidery on the lateral toe, and cork insoles.
Nike Air Force 1 Mid

When: Thursday, June 9 at 10 a.m.

What You Need to Know: Two colorways of the Air Force 1 Mid are set to hit retailers on Thursday morning. Both feature premium nubuck uppers. The “Chocolate” pair sports a brown upper with cream detailing, while the “Venice” option takes a more summery approach by mixing a soft shade of pink across its upper with white accents.
Hello Kitty x Nike Air Presto

What You Need to Know: Following a limited release on the Sanrio web store a few weeks ago, the Hello Kitty x Nike Air Presto is getting a wider launch via Nike SNKRS on Friday. The pair features a blue neoprene upper covered in an all-over print of the iconic character. To complete the special pair, her signature red bow has been stamped on the tongue and the heel counter has been molded to resemble Hello Kitty.
Adidas Yeezy BSKTBL Knit 'Slate Azure'

What You Need to Know: Kanye West and Adidas aren’t just releasing some new Foam Rnnrs this week. There is also a new colorway of the BSKTBL Knit set to hit stores on Friday morning. The pair features a Primeknit upper complete with a high-cut black ankle collar. The rest of the upper mixes shades of tan and blue. A tan midsole housing Boost cushioning, reflective heel panel, and blue outsole complete the performance basketball design.
Eames x Reebok Classic Leather

What You Need to Know: Reebok continues its partnership with Eames with two new pairs of the Classic Leather. The first sees the low-top covered in a brown woodgrain pattern to nod to Eames’ various mid-century modern furniture designs across its leather and suede upper. The other option features a white leather upper covered in various shapes inspired by the Eames coloring toy.

Tom Sachs x Nike General Purpose Shoe

What You Need to Know: Tom Sachs and Nike are reconnecting to deliver the General Purpose Shoe. If the design seems a bit boring compared to the average sneaker collab, it’s supposed to be. “Your sneakers shouldn’t be the most exciting thing about you. They are tools, and what matters about your tools is that they work. They do their job so you can do yours. You put them on and forget about them,” reads the NikeCraft site advertising the new project. The pair features a sail mesh upper, grey suede overlays, and a brown midsole. Blue tongue and heel pull tabs act as a subtle nod to past Tom Sachs x Nike Mars Yard collabs.
